Implementation in France
Asea, a specialist in sustainable procurement, is leading the rollout of the CO2 Performance Ladder in France since 2024. As the French partner of SKAO, Asea has formed a consortium with key organisations, including OBsAR (Association pour les achats responsables) and three major contracting authorities: La Poste, RTE, and UGAP. With their extensive network and expertise, Asea aims to adapt the Ladder to the French context, making it a practical tool for promoting low-carbon procurement and reducing CO2 emissions across various industries.
The pilot project, successfully launched in Paris, is a crucial step in integrating the CO2 Performance Ladder into the landscape of French public procurement. Asea’s collaborations aim to demonstrate how the Ladder can drive sustainability efforts in public tenders by providing certified companies with a competitive advantage. With a commitment to helping France meet its climate goals, Asea and its partners are working to establish the first CO2 Performance Ladder tenders and expand the use of this proven tool throughout the country.
“The CO2 Performance Ladder meets a strong expectation of the French Public Procurement Authorities who are looking for pragmatic solutions for low carbon procurement of works and services, in a context of implementation of the Green Industry and Climate & Resilience Acts.“
